Wiley Hardeman Post

(November 22, 1898 – August 15, 1935)

The Beacon of Vision is a monument proposal intended for installation on Route 66 in Edmond, Oklahoma.  Designed by artist Nathan Pratt, the 50-foot-tall stainless steel sculpture would depict Oklahoma aviator Wiley Post wearing his famous eyepatch and pressurized flight suit.  Despite his partial blindness, he envisioned the future of flight and went on to make revolutionary contributions in the fields of aviation, meteorology and space travel.
